Will schedule and dispatch drivers and equipment for conveyance of materials or freight, or repairsDescription Carlile is currently recruiting for Truck Dispatchers. Must have minimum 1-2 years of dispatch experience in Trucking Flat/Van or Water/steamship/Barge. A sound understanding of DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations a plus. Carlile Dispatchers will schedule and dispatch drivers and equipment for conveyance of materials or freight, and emergency repairs when needed, rendered outside the place of business. Duties may include using radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments and compiling statistics and reports on work progress. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Responsible for the routing, scheduling, and dispatching of drivers, equipment and freight loads going out daily/nightly and, reporting activities to the Operations Group · Communicate with the Carlile Dock Supervisors to insure all freight commitments are met in a timely fashion. · Responsible for accurate data entry of manifests, bills of lading, Qualcomm communications, emails and data to various spreadsheets. · Involves first-line customer service in answering the phones and arranging for pick-ups and deliveries. · Must be able to direct drivers to repair facilities as needed, facilitate roadside repairs, and coordinate fast response to accidents and hazardous spills. · The Dispatcher will also be responsible for facilitating the daily toolbox meeting as directed by Carlile’s Safety Director and local management. · Participate in Driver meetings and driver training programs · Read and enter Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) · Warehouse work to include, but not limited to: basic forklift operation and freight separation and/or inspection · Assist with Loading and unloading of driver trucks as needed · Organize and present accurate pick up and delivery information · Monitor the work employees perform by being accessible to all areas of the dock, yard and inside trailers. · Communicate with dispatch at various terminals to coordinate the movement of freight. · Assist customers with rate quotes, claim information and setting appointments. · Ability to perform administrative functions such as printing delivery receipts, manifest shipments on a trailer, billing freight bills, trace shipments, etc. · Report on-the-job injuries and accidents immediately. · Comply with all transportation and safety regulations, Federal, State and Local OSHA regulations. · Checks off inbound manifests as trailers are being loaded. REQUIREMENTS · Candidate will posses a sound understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service rules while managing and monitoring driver logs. · Prior commercial driving knowledge helpful. · A college degree is preferred but not required. · Work requires excellent command of the English language, both oral and written. · Must have knowledge of use, and operation, of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through 1+ years related experience. · Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software. · Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
