The net proceeds from this business are distributed to development aid programs to the poorest of the poor around the world. We contribute funds to AIDS prevention programs, community development, and education in some of the poorest countries on our planet. We combine environmental protection with the worldwide fight against poverty. Additionally, we recycle used garments that otherwise would end up in an incinerator or landfill. We are in need of a very skilled and competent Transportation Manager to help build our presence in NJ, NY, CT & PA from our New Jersey Office. Bilingual Transportation Manager Planet Aid in Clifton, New Jersey currently has clothing donation bins in several states which are serviced (i.e., emptied) between one and three times per week. The Transportation Manager is responsible for maintaining and maximizing the collection from all boxes in all areas. Good customer service and prompt response to any complaints or overflows are of paramount importance to maintaining Planet Aid's leading role in the region. The transportation department tracks the yield from every bin and does so through the reporting by the independent contractors and drivers, and the use of a database. The accurate and daily maintenance of this database will be a significant and priority responsibility for the Transportation Manager (TM). The TM is in charge of all the route drivers and independent contractors. The TM reports to the Operations Manager. The TM is assisted by the receptionist, who handles calls about the clothing bins and does light data entry. The TM coordinates with the Warehouse Supervisor in several areas including, but not limited to, ensuring accuracy of weight sheets provided by contractors/drivers, confirming donation bins to be loaded for delivery, etc. The Transportation Manager will be instructed and trained by the Operations Manager and will have the following responsibilities: Collection and site management: - Prepare and update routes as boxes are placed/removed - Monitor that the potential of the collection is maximized through frequent emptying (i.e., number of weekly pickups per box and ensure scanning) - Keep the response time to overflows and dumping to a minimum (same day service) - Actively seek to "save" sites where the host asks us to remove a bin - Create emergency service plans when needed for particular sites - Check on driver/contractor performance - Weekly meetings with drivers/contractors - Issue weekly performance reports to aid the contractors/drivers in improving performance - As needed, discuss with Operations Manager, disciplinary action that may be required for drivers/contractors who do not perform - Ensure that company-owned trucks are properly maintained - Garner from contractors/drivers updates on the physical condition of collection boxes to ensure they are well maintained (e.g., condition of paint, stickers, etc.) - Organize placement and delivery of new boxes, to ensure that all new sites are inhabited as soon as possible Administration and reporting: - A daily priority is to ensure the container database is updated and maintained 100% accurate - Keep and develop statistics to help improve performance - Prepare weekly reports on the performance of the contractors (e.g., total number of boxes, required scans, actual scans, estimated pounds vs. actual delivered, etc.) - Provide all details and data points for reports regarding scanning percentages, accuracy of scans, required scans, etc.) - Bins and sites: track carefully and provide accurate counts for all reports (weekly, monthly and ad hoc) Compensation: $40-50K annually Benefits include Paid Vacation, company subsidized Health and Dental, and we offer a 401(k) plan. To be considered for our exciting team, with an important set of goals, please send your resume with an informational cover letter including your salary requirements to us today! ·                                 Location: CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY ·                                 Compensation: $40K - $50K annually ·                                 This is at a non-profit organization. ·                                 Principals only.
