JobSummary The General Manager, Transportation has overall responsibility for managing and controlling multi-market, multi-business line transportation services to provide the safest, most secure, reliable and cost-effective transportation of our customers’ information. The General Manager of Transportation is the Territory Level subject matter expert for Transportation Operations. OperationalExcellence, Standards & Compliance – Oversee development and execution of Territory level tactical plans that continuously improve Operational Excellence (Production, Service & Quality) and that position the Territory to achieve budget goals while providing the appropriate levels of quality transportation service to customers. Partner with GM of Operations to drive performance overall for market. HumanResources/Workforce Leadership – Provide territory leadership to develop and retain a “best in class” courier and management team that reinforces the IM brand; provides superior value; and earns the trust of our customers with service that is reliable, responsive and secure. Develops effective working partnerships with other IM departments.  FinancialOversight - Responsibility for territory transportation contribution and GPM% performance to annual budget. Analyzes trends, monitors expenditures and creates tactical plans to improve territory transportation financial performance. Compliance– Provides territory leadership to create a culture of compliance to safety & security procedures, corporate programs, DOT regulations, and fleet safety programs. Ensures that fleet maintenance and fleet safety procedures are paramount in daily operations Requirements KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES BusinessExpertise: College degree preferred with 5 or more year’s experience managing & leading a high performing organization; preferably in a multi-location; multi-product line service organization. Demonstrated leadership skills managing a diverse exempt and non-exempt workforce Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and/or Provincial transportation regulations to include US DOT regulations, basic knowledge of fleet safety & maintenance. This role will provide leadership over all aspects of Iron Mountain’s transportation service lines in assigned territory. Ensure Iron Mountain’s core values are upheld throughout the territory providing necessary leadership and focus to the frontline workforce, paying special attention to turnover and other key indicators. The GMT will be responsible to utilize a variety of tools and resources to analyze and create solutions for a variety of issues to include: Network Planning, Optimal Routing, Workspace Organization and Design, Customer Service, Customer Implementations, Target Setting, Metric Execution. The responsibilities of the Transportation Manager includes leading key project pursuit initiatives or teams, monitoring project pursuit procedures and processes for the identification, screening and selection of major project pursuits, and reviewing and coordinating project selections with local, regional and national leaders to assure effective leadership of major project pursuits. Will participate in transportation marketing planning, proposals and interviews. Will assist in creation of pursuit target lists, selectively lead major project pursuits, establish and manage program budgets and costs, and will participate in mentoring and training staff in pursuit concepts and practices. Responsible for operations and management of transportation production activities including staff development, profitability, morale, and quality control. Will function as a project manager in addition to transportation section management responsibilities. Will be administratively responsible for transportation section staff and technical service functions, and will lead and coordinate services with other sections. See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through a pro-active project management system. Implement, monitor and support company policy. Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel. This position requires a Bachelors degree in engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) registration. Proven ability to develop and maintain clients, as well as training and mentoring of direct report production staff. Thorough understanding of major DOT pursuit processes. Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills. Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
