Job Responsibilities: Accountability Objective:To provide guidance and support within the SGTF organization with regard to the Transportation needs for both inbound and outbound raw materials and finished product shipments. Monitor Full truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Rail and Small package shipments to assure that least cost Transportation methods are utilized.Demonstrate understanding of basic principles of Transportation and Distribution by utilizing their transportation knowledge and experience to accurately analyze data and develop reports to properly reflect the manufacturing facilities. Principal End Results:1. Facilitate effective communication between carriers and plants. Provide Customer Service Support to the plants on all transportation and distribution issues while working with Customer Service and Plants on SAP routings, preferred vendors, new vendor coordination and freight bill resolution.2. Assists the plants in any tracing of shipments, damage claims and any other follow up with carriers that are required.3. Monitors the recommendations from the Transportation Council and assures that the plants are fully utilizing the recommended carriers and prepares of monthly report on the actual carriers used and rates vs potential savings.4. Monitors and improves carrier tracking report card for on time pickups at facilities.5. Gather and analyze significant amounts of data utilizing SAP to develop analysis and reporting tools concerning shipping patterns, freight expense, freight allowances and compliance issues for each plant by vendor.6. Reduce costs through analysis involving freight expense, carrier performance, procedural evaluation, carrier pricing and service proposals and other new initiatives.7. Work with Freight Payment Company to assure proper business rules are applied, web resolution is maintained, invoices are paid and monthly reports are timely and accurate.8. Cross train as back up for the Import / Export Compliance Coordinator.9. Complete other analysis, reporting, projects and duties as assigned by the Distribution Team.Nature and Scope:The Transportation Coordinator reports to the Materials & Distribution Manager. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to assure that transportation needs are achieved in a high quality cost effective manner in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment. The incumbent is responsible assisting the plants in sourcing carrier equipment and maintaining high levels of customer service and for utilizing systems to gather data and develop spreadsheets to present the data for each of the manufacturing facilities. The incumbent is responsible for analyzing data and presenting findings. Background/Skills:BA or BS Degree in Business / Logistics is preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of Transportation experience in a manufacturing environment is required. The incumbent must be Sales and Service oriented, and possess excellent quantative skills, strong analytical and communication skills as well as be thorough, detail-oriented and be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Expertise in Excel and Access programs is required, as well as other computer skills. Accuracy in data and experience in interacting with both internal and external customers is required. A minimum of 10% travel may be required.
