Directs and coordinates with appropriate corporate functional departments, logistics suppliers, multiple plant sites and regional transportation managers to ship and receive products, components and raw materials in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction and cost efficiency. Primary Duties: Direct the operations team and regional transportation managers to optimize plant territories Direct the operations team, BCD and regional transportation managers to minimize the overall mileage to move batteries, raw materials and components within the JCI system Optimize temporary territory moves in collaboration with Production Control Optimize the movement of lead in collaboration with the Lead team Plan and optimize warehousing requirements in collaboration with plants and lead team Collaborate with the sales team to deliver transportation quotes to customers Prepare and present monthly Stake in the Ground and SBU financial reviews Prepare and manage logistics contracts. Negotiate with logistic providers to achieve and maintain the maximum cost effectiveness in the movement of freight. Develops strategies with regions and Fleet services to achieve Best Practices across all sites Prepare yearly transportation budgets and monthly performance analysis to budget Responsible for resolution of customer issues on transportation Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT and hazardous waste regulations Champion of the Transportation Optimization model. Position requires a Bachelors degree 10 plus years of transportation logistics experience Five years in a Director level position. Experience with movement of hazardous materials desired. Experience developing performance metrics Strong systems knowledge and superior customer service ability. Working Conditions: Position is in an office environment and requires up to 20% travel.
