Essential Duties: Manages the transportation activities for the assigned location ensuring the delivery of all warehouse merchandise is delivered in an effective, efficient and safe manner to the customer. Schedules driver operations and deliveries to stores to maximize resources for the assigned area(s).   Monitors equipment maintenance and availability list for the assigned area.   Provides outstanding customer service to customers based on timely and accurate feedback to appropriate questions relative to assigned duties.  Coordinates delivery changes and addresses any customer concerns regarding the delivery. Ensures all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements are met. Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for the crew. Reports, records and investigates all driver accidents. Responsible for security of product and equipment on deliveries. Evaluates current work processes and recommends alternatives to eliminate inefficiencies.   Performs staff management and administrative duties of: recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and disciplinary actions.  Manages staffing and budgetary requirements and sets department performance standards.   Job Requirements:High School Diploma or GED required.  Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred 8  years Transportation experience with 1  prior supervisory/ managerial experience Must have an understanding of transportation issues such as backhauls, contract carriers, DOT requirements, etc.  Familiar with local and federal laws relating to driver fleets.  Experience with Cadec / XATA systems for efficiency and accurate reporting.   Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with distribution center associates, drivers and customers.  Ability to read and understanding financial budgets Generally Monday - Friday and must be available on call evenings and weekends for weather emergencies and to solve problems arising from equipment breakdowns.
