General Summary: Responsible for planning inbound transportation of merchandise into the Distribution center network, using sound decision making to reduce inbound transportation cost, while improving service levels with FDs TMS tool, OTM. Will support carrier procurement team, by providing data and carrier specific information regarding carrier performance within their territory for inbound routing. Responsible for identifying opportunities: to improve inbound transportation procurement process; enhance execution in routing/planning; and partner with Oracle for OTM tool development. This position will utilize data capture of carrier events to assist with vendor shipping compliance and uncover carrier trends, in an effort to cover expenses and improve service. Principal Duties Responsibilities: Daily planning for inbound merchandise loads from vendor base into the DCs. Track and trace shipments/loads through the entire process - from tender to delivery. Partner with Appointment Coordinators to ensure timely receipt of goods meeting date parameters set by the merchants. Assist with analysis and tool development to improve transportation planning at the operational and tactical level. Assist with Carrier Performance Reporting when requested to include: Network Carrier Reschedule Report, Individual Carrier Report Cards, Individual Carrier EDI Compliance Reports, and Carrier Scorecards. Monitor carrier performance as it pertains to on-time delivery, load acceptance, and EDI compliance and make suggestions to improve performance around carrier base. Bring concerns surrounding OTM performance including all TOPS rates, state to DC rates, and intrastate rates when there appears to be a malfunction, or issue at hand. Always looking to assist with rate accuracy and data integrity within OTM. Maintain committed lanes tenders to assist carrier procurement and retention of carriers and service quality. Work with the buyer group to: •Identify most cost effective ship locations. •Identify and recommend consolidation opportunities •Reverse transportation charges on additional expenses caused by the vendors. •Initiate vendor charge-backs when the vendor will not assume responsibility for transportation charges. Work with DC Transportation group to maximize backhaul opportunities. Assist in performing regression testing of OTM when new service releases are installed. Identify system problems within OTM and work with Analyst team to contact Oracle for correction. Understand and assist in the flow of data between TMS, EDI, and Common Carriers when needed. Achieve transportation cost and service budget / goals. Perform special projects related to transportation and logistics when requested.
