Local DispatcherNew Century Transportation has an opening for a Local Dispatcher.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Local Dispatcher assumes control of the asset (truck) upon departure from various origins destined to assigned geographical area of responsibility. The position is responsible for ensuring trucks under their control deliver to customers as per the prescribed load plan. Through constant communication with the truck/driver, the Local Dispatcher uses various methods- computers, phones, forms, and operating systems to monitor and adjust the load plan as conditions change and under the direction of the Supervisor. The position is required to adjust the plan thru scheduling, re-scheduling of deliveries, dropping freight to approved partner carriers,with authorization or by plan, and/or relays and switches to keep the asset working and drivers in compliance. The Local Dispatcher is directly responsible for managing the driver's ETA for load completion and subsequent pick ups for return to the appropriate "end of day" yard. The Local Dispatcher is required to possess a working knowledge in the following areas in order to effectively monitor assets under control: geography, time  & distance parameters, road/ highway/ interstate routes,  D.O.T. /H.O.S ./HazMat, customer base, and applicable computer programs. The Local Dispatcher is tasked with procuring detention and/or storage time for the assets under his control. This includes drop trailer locations and the equipment at those locations such as: pallet jacks, load bars,straps, plywood etc. and maintaining the trailer pool at the proper level. Job Title: Outbound Dispatcher

Description:
An Outbound Dispatcher assigns and dispatches outbound road and regional loads with the proper driver based on when a driver is available and when a load must depart from the yard. Gather information on available drivers for each night's outbound requirements from day local dispatch (inbound drivers), drivers who are home and available for work, sign in sheets, and from speaking directly with drivers at the dispatch window, determine their leave times and assign them to the appropriate loads based on cut times and driving time available. Instruct drivers on their load's delivery requirements based on comments provided by each load planner. Answer the phones. Determine the number of first day loads that can be covered based on available drivers and advise load planning, the Night Ops mgr, the Outboud Dispatch supervisor and load planning. Following the cut time established by load planning, stay in contact with the dock to determine if the established cut times will be meet and adjust load assignments accordingly. Determine the number of drivers available for second day loads, advise load planning of this number, assign these loads according to cut times and driver availble leave times.Obtain from the night ops mgr the next day guarantee list, determine which loads will have these guarantees on them based on load planning's input, follow the loading progress of these loads to insure that they will be loaded on time and that the drivers assigned to them leave at the established cut times. Follow the driver's progress throughout the shift. Set up relays when necessary for both guarantee loads and regular loads when necessary to insure on time deliveries.Maintain contact with data entry to obtain cut bills for first day loads and bills for guarantees when the freight has arrived later in the day and/or evening and the freight has been loaded off of pickup slips. Fill out all the appropriate forms and lists that are part of the Outbound Dispatch procedure and hand off this information to the following shift. Window check in, various clerical duties such as manifesting and tracing bills Waking drivers in the yard when their load is ready for departure, calling drivers at home Issue com checks Job Requirements:3-5 years of Dispatch Experience.  Outbound or Central Dispatch experience is a huge plus!  General knowledge of computers and their basic functions,including software programs:Exel,Word, and Outlook email. Tell System, the company's internal computer softwaresystem willneed instruction. Math skills, time and distance calculations, and US geography The position requires the individual to stand for periods of time at the window qualifing drivers for the night's dispatch requirements. There is walking involved outside the office working with the dock and in the yard, waking drivers when necessary, regardless of weather conditions. Requires being able to work flexible hours, specifically nights and weekends.Ability to work in a fast paced enviroment, ability to adapt to changing work flow, good communication skills.Knowledge of computers.
